Schoolboy in hospital with pellet wounds after shooting in Kirkdale
Detectives are investigating following a shooting in Kirkdale in the early hours of this morning (Sunday, July 22) that has left two males with gunshot injuries.
Officers were called to Woodbine Street at around 1.40am after receiving a report of shots being fired.
The two males, who are aged 15 and 25, were taken to hospital for treatment for facial injuries consistent with being caused by shotgun pellets. They remain in hospital in a stable condition.
Detectives are working to establish the motive for the incident but believe it was a targeted attack.
House to house enquiries are being carried out, CCTV is being sought and the area has been cordoned off to allow for forensic examination. High visibility patrols have also been stepped up.
Detectives are appealing to witnesses, or anyone with any information in connection with the incident that could help the investigation, to contact officers, anonymously if preferred.
Detective Inspector Paul Heslop said: "Merseyside Police takes incidents of this nature extremely seriously and will do everything within our powers to find those responsible and take them off our streets.
"We need the community's help to do this and urge anyone with any information in connection with this incident, or about where firearms are stored, to call us so we can take robust action against the minority of those who threaten the safety of others."
Anyone with any information is asked to call Matrix on 0151 777 5699, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
