'Cocaine' found at nursery in Salford

Two year old girl finds a bag of white powder

A small bag of white powder was found in a playing area at a nursery in Salford.

Shortly before 11.25am on Thursday 30 August 2012, police were called to a Sure Start centre on St Aidans Grove in Lower Kersal to a report drugs were found.

Officers attended and recovered a snap bag containing cocaine. Inquiries are ongoing.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Riddick from Salford CID, said:
"We sent the powder off to be forensically tested and can confirm it is cocaine.

"We understand that any parent will be concerned by this, but I want to reassure them that no child was harmed.

"Also there is no indication that anyone has been using or dealing drugs in the centres grounds.
