Deadline for volunteers for Rugby World Cup extended

Tuesday, August 7th 2012 11:28

Your chance to be a part of it!

Organisers of the Rugby League World Cup (RLWC) 2013 today announced that the deadline for volunteers has been extended until August 31 2012.

There has been unprecedented demand for information on the volunteer roles and the organisers want to allow additional time, so that those that have not already done so can get a chance to put their names forward.

RLWC2013 Operations Director Jon Dutton, said: "The feel good factor from London 2012 has been huge and without a doubt the Games Makers are real stars. We want to ensure that people who have missed out on the Olympic and Paralympic Games or who have been unable to volunteer are given a chance to do so for the next global sporting event in their home town or city. We have some great opportunities for people to be involved in RLWC2013 and we have been extremely impressed by the volume of interest at the first stage of the process.”

In September this year everyone who has registered will receive an application pack containing details of the 18 unique volunteer roles. The pack will also outline the process and the benefits package available to successful volunteers.

To be a volunteer you must be over the age of 18 as at midnight on July 1 2013.

Applications are open to under 18’s for special field of play opportunities.
Anyone interested in volunteering can either email info@rlwc2013.com or alternatively call 0844 887 1750 for details of how to apply.

Langtree Park – the new home of Saints – will host the Australia v Fiji match on November 2, 2013.

Councillor Barrie Grunewald, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Urban Regeneration, Housing and Culture at St.Helens Council said:  "As we have seen from London 2012 the atmosphere of these global events are terrific.  I am sure that anyone who volunteers for the rugby world cup will get a tremendous amount out of it and one they will never forget.”
