At 10.25am on Tuesday 10 July 2012 police were called to an address on Market Street in Hollingworth, Tameside following reports of an armed robbery.
Officers attended and found that a man armed with a gun made threats and stole cash.
An operation is place to trace the offender and these inquiries are ongoing.
There have been no reports of any shots being fired.
Road closures are in place on Market Street (A628) near Spring Street, Water Street and Taylor Street.
Local officers are working with residents to offer reassurance.
