Stockport man discovered after fire

Post mortem examination has concluded that John Grainger who was found dead in Stockport  died from a blunt force head injury and shotgun wound to the head.

At 5.10am on Thursday 26 January 2012, police were called to Wellington Street after fire crews had extinguished a blaze on a verge opposite Gala Casino and discovered the body of 32-year-old John Grainger from the Stockport area.

It is believed he was decapitated after being shot.

Two men, aged 29 and 31, who had been arrested on suspicion of possessing shotgun cartridges prior to the discovery of the body were later arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in police custody for questioning.
