Police are appealing for witnesses after a collision on the M61 motorway earlier this afternoon.
At approximately 2:13pm on Friday 16th December a collision occurred between junctions 8 and 9 of the M61 northbound at Chorley involving a black Skoda Fabia.
A 42yr old male from the Bacup area was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where he sadly died.
Officers from the Roads Policing Unit are investigating the cause of the collision. The family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Sgt Finn Quainton from the Force Roads Policing Unit said "I would like to appeal to anyone who has witnessed this collision, or who saw the black Skoda Fabia just prior to the collision, to make contact with police".
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101.
