A man has died following a collision in Leigh

At about 00.30am on Saturday 28 July 2012, police were called to Kirkhall Lane following reports of a collision between a Citreon Zara Picasso taxi and a 41-year-old pedestrian.

A private ambulance was passing at the time of the collision and took the man to the Wigan Royal Albert Infirmary for treatment for injuries to his head and body.

He died about an hour later while in hospital.

The taxi driver remained at the scene and was uninjured.

Police are now appealing to anyone who has information or who witnessed the collision to come forward and speak to the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4742 or 0161 867 4745.
