St Helens man steals from hairdressers
A St Helens man has been jailed for two years and nine months after pleading guilty to two robberies.
Alfred Brennan, aged 56, of Freemantle Avenue in Thatto Heath was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, July 13.
Brennan was arrested at his home around 12 hours after the robberies at Temptations Beauty Salon on Scholes Lane, St Helens. The incidents happened at around 4.20pm on Monday, June 11, 2012 when he entered the salon and stole a woman's handbag containing a sum of money and a mobile phone as well as a quantity of cash from the till.
The woman's handbag was recovered on nearby fields a short time later, wrapped in Brennan's coat, with all its contents still intact.
DC Roy Waller from St Helens CID said: "This was an upsetting incident for the victims who were left badly shaken by the experience.
"Merseyside Police takes incidents of this nature very seriously and I hope that the sentence helps them to achieve some closure."
