'he chose to write that headline, he should accept responsibilty'

South Yorkshire Police have refused to apologise to former Sun editor Kelvin MacKenzie over the Hillsborough disaster.

He'd written to them to demanding an apology - saying he's suffered decades of "personal vilification" after printing false details about the tragedy that were passed on by police officers.

Chief Constable David Crompton says Mr MacKenzie should accept responsibility for what was written..

this is his statement

'We have publicly apologised to the Hillsborough families and the Liverpool fans but we will not apologise to Mr MacKenzie.

He chose to write his own headline and he should accept responsibility for it'.
