There are severe delays between Wigan North Western and Warrington Bank Quay after a person was hit by a train.
It's been confirmed that a woman has been struck by a train at Wigan North Western and investigations are now underway.
Olympic Athlete Jenny Meadows tweeted:

In a statement Virgin Trains said
"Due to a person being hit by a train between Wigan North Western and Warrington Bank Quay all lines are blocked.
Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes. Disruption is expected until 17:00.
Ticket acceptance with other operators being arranged.
Northern and Transpennine Express are conveying passengers via any reasonable route until further notice.
