Man still in a critical condition after Wigan attack
Detectives are appealing for a group of
women to come forward after a 60-year-old man suffered a life-threatening head
injury.
In the early
hours of Monday 8 October 2012, police received a report from Wigan Royal
Infirmary that a man had been brought in with a serious head injury.
He remains in a critical
condition in hospital.
It
is believed the man suffered his injury outside Chicago Rock on King Street some
time around 1.30am.
It is
believed he was pushed over before falling backwards, striking his head on the
pavement.
A 29-year-old
man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remains in custody for
police questioning.
A
21-year-old man also arrested has been released without charge.
Detective Inspector Andy
Cunliffe said: "CCTV has been studied and it is clear that there are a number of
people outside Chicago Rock on King Street at the time the man sustained his
injuries.
"We are
particularly keen to speak to a group of women who were seen outside Chicago
Rock just before the incident and I would ask this group or anyone else who may
have been in the area between 1am and 2.30am on Monday to come forward.”
