Robbers threatened a motorist with meat
cleavers before stealing his car.
The car jacking happened on Bury Road, Bamford, Rochdale, at
about 8pm on Thursday 11 October 2012.
The victim, a 36-year-old man from Rochdale, had just parked his
car, a white Audi S3, when he was approached by two masked men who ran up to him
brandishing meat cleavers, demanding his car keys.
He dropped the keys, they got in and then
drove off.
The car was
later found abandoned on Browning Road, Middleton. The victim was uninjured but
left upset.
Both robbers
are described as white and wearing black scarves covering the face and black
clothing. One was about 5ft 10in tall with a slim build and about
20-years-old.
PC John
Byrne, of the Rochdale Volume Crime Team, said: "Thankfully the victim wasn’t
injured, but we can only speculate on what went through his mind when he saw two
men rushing at him with big knives.
"He sensibly didn’t put up any resistance and they drove off in
his car.
"I now need to
know of anyone saw these men as they approached the victim and, more
importantly, did you see w white Audi being driven away from Bury Road or see
the occupants?
"Did you
get a good look at the occupants of the car or did you see the people who
abandoned the car on Browning Road?
"Your call could help us take two violent robbers off the
street.”
Anyone with
information is asked to call Rochdale Volume Crime Team on 0161 856 8635 or
