Seven arrests in drugs raids in Liverpool

Drugs, money and ammunition seized

Seven people have been arrested and Class A drugs and ammunition seized during a Merseyside Police operation against drug and gun crime this morning.

Officers from the Force's Matrix unit, supported by neighbourhood teams, executed 14 warrants at properties in north and south Liverpool and Sefton at around 7am.

Drugs thought to be heroin were found at a house in Aigburth in south Liverpool while significant numbers of cannabis plants were found at three addresses in West Derby in the north of the city.

Ammunition was also found in one of the West Derby addresses and large amounts of cash have been found in houses raided in Old Swan and Melling.

Detective Inspector Mark Kameen, who is leading the Matrix investigation, said: "This morning's operation is part of our on-going crackdown on criminals involved in the illegal drugs trade. Drugs blight our communities and fuel other serious crime. These arrests demonstrate the importance of the community supplying us with information so that we can take action."

27-year-old man arrested at Carina Court, Aigburth on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A and Class B drugs

27-year-old man arrested at Swanside Road in L14 on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs

34-year-old man arrested at Willsford Avenue in L31 on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs

27-year-old man arrested at Smithford Walk in Roby on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs

53-year-old man arrested at Town Row in West Derby (L12) on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A and Class B drugs and suspicion of possession of ammunition

23-year-old woman arrested at Carina Court, Aigburth on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply

50-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs
