Road needs to be re-surfaced after vegetable oil spill
Drivers using the northbound carriageway of the St Helens Linkway, near the
M62 Junction 7 (Rainhill Stoops) are being warned to expect severe delays for the next few days..
The road is closed while clean up work takes place, following an oil spillage yesterday (Wed) afternoon. However subsequent damage to the road surface will require some resurfacing over the next couple of days.
A diversion route is being signposted through Bold, via A57 Warrington Road, Jubits Lane, Chester Lane and Marshall Cross Road leading back to the Linkway. The southbound carriageway is open as normal.
In an effort to reduce delays in the area, traffic lights are being adjusted to extend the ‘green phase’ allowing greater priority for the diverted traffic.
St Helens Council apologises for any inconvenience, but is attempting to get the Linkway open as soon as it is safe to do so.
