A family are paying tribute to a teenager from Wigan who died in a motorbike crash.
One man has died and two other people are seriously injured after a collision
involving three motorbikes.
The collision happened at around 11.25pm on
Sunday 29 July 2012 at the junction of Fourmarts Road and Hillridge Road in
Wigan.
A yellow Honda motorbike collided with a black Yamaha, which then
collided with a third motorbike, a grey Yamaha, that was parked at the side of
the road.
The three riders were all thrown from their bikes and sustained
serious injuries. They were taken to hospital for
treatment.
Eighteen-year-old Ryan Smith sadly later died from his
injuries. Ryan was from the Golborne area of Wigan.
Ryan’s family has paid the
following tribute to him. They said: "Ryan was a cherished and much
loved son to Neville and Rose, a beautiful brother to Lee, Janine and Gareth,
and a beloved boyfriend to Emma.
"He was also a heroic uncle to
Daniel, Bradley, Declan, Matthew and Jessica and was adored by many.
"You
are sadly gone, but will not be forgotten as you are always in our hearts. Sleep
tight our angel, we love you always.”
A 19-year-old woman
remains in a critical condition in hospital with multiple injuries. A
17-year-old boy who suffered leg and neck injuries has since been discharged
from hospital.
Sergeant Danny Byrne from the Serious Collision
Investigation Unit said: "Our sympathies are with Ryan’s family at this tragic time, as
they try to come to terms with the loss of their loved one. Our thoughts are
also with the families of the other two victims who were seriously injured
during this incident.
"An investigation is ongoing into the circumstances
surrounding this collision, and I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed
it or has any information to contact my officers at the Serious Collision
Investigation Unit directly on 0161 856 4742.”
