Two men have been arrested and drugs recovered after armed police stopped a car in Manchester.
Shortly after 8pm on
Wednesday 10 October 2012, officers from GMP’s Serious Organised Crime and
Firearms Units stopped a Toyota Avensis in the Shudehill area.
Two men, aged 23 and 28, were arrested on
suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and remain in police custody for
questioning.
A quantity of suspected
Class A drugs was also seized.
Detective Inspector Chris Mossop, of the Serious Organised Crime
Unit, said: "I know a number of people will have seen the police activity last
night and I want to reassure them that this was a planned operation utilising
specially trained officers from our firearms unit.
"We have arrested two men and recovered a significant amount of
drugs and our investigation is very much ongoing.
"As always I would urge anyone with information about those
involved in the sale and supply of drugs to contact us in absolute
confidence.”
