Wigan build on links with South Wales Scorpions
Wigan Warriors today announce that they will be breaking new
ground this Summer by holding their first ever Rugby Camp in South
Wales.
The Warriors’ Community Foundation coaching staff will be
running the 2-day camp which will take place on Tuesday 28th and Wednesday
29th August , at the home of South Wales Scorpions, The Gnoll, for children aged
4 to 16 years old.
Wigan Warriors are the biggest club in Rugby League and are
renowned worldwide for their success and rich history. The Warriors currently
lie top of the Super League and in the last two seasons have been crowned Grand
Final Winners in 2010 and Challenge Cup victors in 2011.
Speaking about the camp, Community Development Manager Amanda
Wilkinson said,
"It is really exciting to take one of our successful Summer
Camps to Wales for the first time. When we have previously held camps away from
the local area in Cumbria and the Midlands we have had some great reviews for
the way we offer children a unique insight into some of the world class coaching
and training techniques that are utilised throughout the Club, starting at First
Team level.
"This will be a great experience for players of all ages and
abilities interested in rugby with an emphasis on fun and learning to play the
Warriors Way.”
The camp has been arranged as part of the Warriors innovative
partnership with Wales Rugby League and the South Wales Scorpions
Club.
Andy Coley, Wigan Warriors’ Wales Liaison Manager,
added,
"It was a real privilege to meet all the young players at the
launch earlier in the year and who knows one day some of these may progress
through the system to play professional Rugby League and possibly for Wigan
Warriors.
”This is a wonderful opportunity for youngsters to enjoy
themselves and either develop or pick up new skills this summer. We will also
have talent coaches present to offer advice and guidance and, as with the
Olympic legacy, attendees will hopefully find this to be a great opportunity for
them to start their careers in Rugby League."
Places on the camp will cost £30 per child for the two days
and places on this very special Wigan Warriors camp are available to book via
the Warriors Ticket Hotline on 0871 66 33 552 (calls cost 10p from a BT
landline, other operators may vary).
