Goals from Gary Roberts, the returning Michael Jacobs and Joe Garner sealed three points for Wigan Athletic in a 3-0 win against Aston Villa in the Championship.
It was just reward from a game that Paul Cook's side dominated from start to finish, lifted by new signing Anthony Pilkington.
Both Josh Windass, from a Reece James cross and Cedric Kipre from a Windass corner should have opened the scoring, before Pilkington's subtle roll back was fired home by Roberts 5 minutes before half time.
Villa's only chance in the first half came from a poor clearance by Jamie Jones (starting in place of Christian Walton), but in-form Tammy Abraham failed to make the most of the opportunity.
Into the second half, Wigan continued to completely dominate Dean Smith's side and deservedly doubled their lead, when 15 minutes from time, substitute Michael Jacobs capped his return from a 3 month injury lay-off with a stooping header at the back post from Lee Evans' cross.
Minutes later it was three, when Windass was felled by Glen Whelan in the box and Joe Garner stepped up to convert the penalty.
Here are the post-match thoughts of the manager Paul Cook.
We also caught up with the returning Michael Jacobs.
And finally, here's a chat with Gary Roberts.
