The company say they plan to close their site on Challenge Way in the summer.
The packing plant employs around 300 people but will close it's doors for the last time in June.
Workers were told last week and it's understood there are plans to offer staff alternative employment at another site in Derbyshire.
Around half of the roles in Wigan are full time with the rest made up of agency staff.
The GMP union have reacted with fury at the announcement calling it a "body blow" for the region.
Paul McCarthy, GMB Regional Secretary, said:
“This closure is another body blow for the North West – caused by a company with a track record of putting profits before people.
“The hard-working, dedicated staff at the warehouse have already been put through the grinder once when the site was run by JJB - and now this.
“GMB will not rest until every member receives the redundancy pay they are legally entitled. Then we will discuss next steps.”
