Police Want To Speak To Two Men In Connection With A Brutal Hammer Attack In Norley Hall

A women in her 50’s answered the front door to two men who pushed their way into her home. Her husband - a man also in his 50’s – was then viciously assaulted by the hammer wielding duo.

The man suffered a fractured skull as well as injuries to his knee. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

The incident happened at around 7pm on Monday 10 December 2018 at a property on Saddleback Road.

The two men were wearing dark clothes and black hats which covered their ears. They fled in the direction of City Road.

Since the incident officers have carried out extensive enquiries in the local area and trawled through CCTV. They have now released images of the men they want to speak to urgently.

Detective Constable Andrew Partington, from GMP’s Wigan borough, said: “This was an awful incident where a couple were threatened in their own home. Our thoughts remain with them while they recover from this ordeal.

“We are desperate to identify the men pictured and I would urge anyone who recognises them to please call police.

“I’d also speak directly to the men themselves, if this is you then please make contact with officers at the earliest opportunity.”

Anyone with any information should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 1748 of 10 December 2018.

Information can also be passed on anonymously by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
