Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in St Helens this afternoon.
Just before 2.30pm, a report was received of a collision between a car and a pedestrian on the St Helens Linkway East, near to KFC.
Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, a woman in her 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment. Her condition is described as serious.
The driver of the car, a red Suzuki Alto, stopped at the scene and is assisting officers.
Officers from the Roads Policing Unit are carrying working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and any witnesses are asked to contact the Roads Policing Unit.
Sergeant Ged Farley said: "We are keen to hear from any witnesses to this incident. The pedestrian has sustained serious injuries and we welcome any information, dashcam or other mobile footage, which may assist our inquiries."
The St Helens linkway is currently closed between B&Q and KFC, diversions are in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
